Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Design Days Dubai 2013 delivered the world’s most diverse collectible design fair of limited edition furniture and design objects. Only in its second year, the fair demonstrated Dubai’s status as a global meeting point, with galleries coming from six continents and as far afield as Mexico and Australia. In line with the growing interest in design in the region, the fair also doubled its representation of Middle East-based galleries.

Taking place at the foot of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai’s most vibrant area, Downtown Dubai, Design Days Dubai’s second edition welcomed more than 10,800 visitors (an increase of 28% compared to the 2012 edition) and a 25% increase in sales. Meanwhile, the fair expanded its programme to offer stimulating public discussion panels, lectures, installations, workshops and exhibitions, including Dubai Culture’s inaugural ‘Design Road Professional Programme’. As the only collectible design fair in the region, Design Days Dubai launched its popular regional programme ‘Design Stories’ in 2012, which visited Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE. Giving design enthusiasts from around the region the opportunity to learn more about collectible design, ‘Design Stories’ resulted in a 120% increase in regional visitors to the fair.

The overwhelming positive response from the world’s media has now firmly placed Design Days Dubai as the hub for collectible design in this rapidly expanding region, and a point of connection for design galleries across the world.

Design Days Dubai would like to thank the attending galleries, and its sponsors—Dubai Culture, Van Cleef & Arpels, Audi and Emaar—whose support has been the behind the growth and success of the fair.
