At Design Days Dubai this year, Parisian luxury icon Van Cleef & Arpels will present ‘Art of Crafts’, an exhibition paying tribute to savoir-faire - the ability to bring volume, depth, beauty, and life to incredible designs.
On display will be the Émeraude en majesté (emerald) collection and an exhibition of world-acclaimed Porcelain de Sèvres, presenting an array of their most artistic and treasured designs, celebrating the traditional craft of porcelain métier d'art.
During the exhibition, admirers of crafts are also invited to sign up for a rare opportunity to learn gouache drawing, the process that brings light and volume to the design from which the jewel is born, led by master craftsmen.
Van Cleef & Arpels also partners again with Tashkeel and Design Days Dubai for its fifth edition of The Middle East Emergent Designer Prize. On display at the fair will be the works of the finalists; the winner selected in November and will receive a production budget of AED 30,000 and a 5-day trip to the prestigious L’ECOLE Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris.
Alessandro Maffi, Managing Director of Van Cleef and Arpels commented: “Along with our partners, we’re thrilled that The Middle East Emergent Designer Prize has materialized as platform for regional designers to be recognized for their creativity and a catapult into the international world of design. Education is a pillar at Van Cleef & Arpels and with that we are pleased offer the winner a five-day residency at L’ECOLE Van Cleef & Arpels where they will gain incredible insight into the exclusive world of craftsmanship and the Van Cleef & Arpels method”.
