“Buying original design items is the best investment you can make…Achieving a more personal, beautiful interiors is a bonus,” says Christopher Barnekow, founder/CEO of Barnebys, the leading search engine for art, antiques and collectibles, which recently published an online auction report on focusing 15 leading furniture designers of the 20th century whose work is highly sought after.
Of the 15 design icons, their works have often been exhibited at Design Days Dubai by the show’s international design galleries, such as Jean Royere, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand brought by Carpenters Workshop Gallery (London/Paris/New York), La Galerie Nationale (Dubai) and LAFFANOUR - Galerie Downtown (Paris).
“Collectors are paying considerable attention to design, with prices on a limited supply of unique high-end pieces boosted to fine art market status. Meanwhile the mass market is exploding. Increased access means anyone, anywhere, can get their hands on iconic modern design pieces, at any price point,” the report went on to say.
